Kumbhar Community

Traditionally potters, brick and tile makers, we have undergone one of the largest occupational diversifications in India and have taken up other professions with gusto. Though we are native to Maharashtra, we are also found in large numbers in Karnataka and Gujarat. According to a legend, Shalivahan, the legendary founder of the Maratha nation, came from a Kumbhar family.
